Placement of nest boxes for the Bechstein Bat and other forest bats

What it consists of

It seems proven that the placement of appropriate nest boxes for bats is a good way to favour the colonization of habitats by these species, at least while other conservation steps are taken to reach the necessary environmental conditions. In the LIFE+ PRO-Izki framework, 100 specially designed nest boxes will be placed for smaller sixed bats. A group of experts will be in charge of selecting the locations of the boxes and verify their occupation.

Why t is done

While the natural creation of optimal refuges for the Myotis bechsteinii is taking place, the placement of artificial refuges increases the permanence possibilities of the nesting colonies and the availability of adequate niches for new nesting groups.
